At Crystal’s Nature School, we believe in the power of intergenerational learning. Our Mentors’ Membership invites elder adults—grandparents, artists, educators, lifelong learners, and nature lovers—to join our village as guides, listeners, and co-learners.

This is not a formal teaching role. There are no clipboards, no tests, no scripts.
Instead, you’ll walk alongside children ( and adults alike)  as they explore the woods, ask big questions, build forts, sketch leaves, and stare up at the sky in wonder. You’ll offer your calm, your stories, your quiet encouragement—and receive joy, purpose, and belonging in return.

🌱 Why Mentorship Matters

In a world that often separates the young from the old, we’re creating a space where wisdom meets wonder. Where children can learn from those who’ve walked further down the path—and where mentors can rediscover the magic of learning through a child’s eyes.

Mentors provide a unique layer of support within our program. You might…

• Sit beside a curious child and marvel at a frog’s toes

• Share stories about how the seasons felt when you were young

• Gently model tools and techniques during nature journaling or crafts

• Offer calm during a moment of overwhelm

• Simply be—fully present, fully human, fully welcomed

Your contribution isn’t measured by how much you teach, but by the quality of your presence.

🌼 What You Receive as a Mentor

Joining our Mentors' Membership means more than showing up once a week—it means becoming part of a living, breathing community that values connection over performance, and purpose over productivity.

Here’s what’s included:

• 🌳 Weekly outdoor sessions (4/month), where you'll mentor alongside our educators and families

• 🌀 Mentor-only workshops & seasonal reflection circles to connect, learn, and grow with fellow guides

• 🌿 Opportunities to lead or support group moments—storytelling, journaling, plant ID, slow walks, art, or quiet listening

• 💞 A meaningful role in a thriving intergenerational learning community that cherishes both young voices and elder wisdom

• 🧭 The joy of re-rooting yourself in nature, in rhythm, and in shared purpose

This space is open to adults who feel a genuine desire to support, grow, and belong. You do not need teaching credentials. You do need:

• A love of nature and a willingness to be outside in all seasons

• A gentle presence and respect for children’s voices

• A heart for community, and a spirit that embraces lifelong learning

• A desire to show up with authenticity and openness
